Composting for Beginners

Want to start composting but need a little help? DMSMCA will be holding a FREE workshop that will cover the basics of composting from bin selection, what you should and shouldn't put in your bin and the ever crucial ratio of greens to browns.

Garden Openings and Maintenance Bee

Orioles Community Garden
Saturday, May 26 from 11a.m. to 3p.m.

Lipton Community Garden
Sunday, May 27 from 11a.m. to 3p.m.

The opening is a time for gardeners to find out their plot number, sign the Gardener Guidelines form and to begin planting. This is also a time for gardeners to volunteer some time towards the upkeep of the garden. This includes painting (with non-toxic milk paint), topping up beds with soil, weeding and turning the compost bins.

Jane's Walk

There are two Jane's Walks coming up in our neighbourhood this weekend. These are free walking tours that help people get in touch with their communities and with each other.

Massive West End Spring Clean-Up

The clean-up was cancelled last weekend due to predictions of rain, which never happened. But no matter... This weekend is supposed to be nicer anyway! See you Saturday, April 28 from 1 - 4 p.m.

Come out and help clean up your neighbourhood! Garbage bags, gloves and snacks provided.
